Official Release of ISoOR-ISOB

The ISoOR 2025 Annual Conference & 5th Organoid Congress Has Successfully Concluded!


Shanghai, March 7-8, 2025 — The ISoOR 2025 Annual Conference & 5th Organoid Congress, co-hosted by the International Society of Organoid Research (ISoOR), Bioon, and other leading institutions, successfully concluded in Shanghai. The event brought together over 1,000 global experts, industry leaders, and innovators to explore cutting-edge advancements in organoid and organ-on-a-chip technologies, spanning drug screening, biomanufacturing, culture protocols, quality control, and AI integration. Discussions focused on their transformative applications in disease modeling, personalized medicine, and drug development. ISoOR remains committed to fostering a professional, collaborative platform to accelerate innovation, clinical translation, and the integration of organoid technologies into precision medicine and pharmaceutical R&D.

01. Key Highlights

Opening Remarks

The chairman of ISoOR, Professor Peter E. Lobie, delivered the opening address, warmly welcomed all the participants, and reviewed the landmark achievements in organoid research in 2024, including technological breakthroughs, significant discoveries, and policy updates. His speech set a rigorous academic tone for the conference.

Launch of ISoOR-ISOB International Standards

A landmark achievement of the conference was the official release of the ISoOR-International Standards for Organoid Biobanking (ISoOR-ISOB)—the world’s first international standard dedicated to organoid biobanking.

Dr. Martin Maldonado, ISoOR Secretary, provided an in-depth overview of the initiative behind this standard, highlighting its two-year development process. He elaborated on the key aspects, including standardized protocols for sample collection, processing, storage, data management, and quality control, ensuring a unified and reliable framework for organoid biobanking on a global scale.

Developed through the collective efforts of 20+ experts from 10+ countries, including the U.S., China, Singapore, Australia, UK, South Korea, India, New Zealand, Vietnam, Argentina, Spain. ISoOR-ISOB sets forth unified guidelines aimed at enhancing research reproducibility, fostering international collaboration, and accelerating the clinical adoption of organoid technologies. The standard was officially unveiled in the organoid conference, witnessed by all attendees, marking a significant step toward global standardization in organoid biobanking.

02. Exhibition & Networking

ISoOR’s exhibition booth showcased the association’s initiatives, including the newly released ISoOR-ISOB standards and the 2024 Organoid & Organ-on-a-Chip Industry White Paper. The white paper offers a comprehensive analysis of the technology’s evolution, industry landscape, and future trends, drawing significant interest from attendees. Many visitors joined ISoOR as members during the event.
